November '2017' Work Meeting-Doggy Treat Day

Hello and welcome to the Dog Kennel Girls Blog!

It's been a crazy few months for me and I have not posted for way too long!

I have some back posts that I need to do, but instead of playing catch up I decided to start with our last meeting and post them at a later date.

The month of November was a work day.  One that we call, "Our Doggy Treat Day".  No class, but a fun day of sewing.

Each year the Kennel Girls decide on a pattern for a quilt to donate for the 'Festival of Trees'.  all proceeds go to Primary Children's Hospital.  Each member makes one or two blocks and then someone puts it together, it is quilted, bound, and then donated.

A marvelous group effort!  The last couple of years Rita has done most of the work and we appreciate her so much!

This is the quilt that was made last year and was donated this November.

Aren't the different houses so fun?

This year we will be working on this fabulous quilt!  Rita has already made one of her own.

Before we got to work we had our monthly meeting and show and tell.

These gals have been ever so busy!!

I love this fall runner made by Nancy!

And look at this beauty Rita created.  It's gorgeous. . .

with a cherry on top!

I love a cheery red/yellow combination.  This cutie was made by Susann.

Lynda created these sweet minis.

She is also making a lot of quilts for disaster relief.  What a wonderful cause!!

Hoo, Hoo, knew this would turn out so cute?  Jill must have had an inkling.  :)

A sweet baby quilt by Jill in pretty pastels.

Honestly, I need to ask Jill about this one.  But it sure is pretty.  Love the colors!

Can you believe she made this blessing dress too?  What an heirloom this will be!

This fabulous star quilt was created by Rae Ann.

Sue keeps her machine a buzzin!  (wink)

Laurie is a master at wool!  She is teaching a class here in Highland, UT.

Janey knits the cutest socks!  Don't they look warm and cozy?

After Show and Tell the ladies all got to work.  Rita finished one of her blocks for this years charity quilt.  She's a go getter!!

Rae Ann's blocks are always perfect!  Hmmm, maybe it's in the pressing.  :)

Love these smiling faces of Lynda and Joylyn.

Wonder if these gals put something in those drinks to give them so much energy?  lol!

Our hard working Pres. (Sue) sitting, and our Pres. Elect, Nancy.  She will do a fabulous job as well!

Marilyn and Janey.  Just looking at Janey, you can tell that she keeps us all in stitches.  (pun intended)

Sweet Rae Ann gifted us all with one of these fun solar turkey's.  Loved seeing mine in my kitchen window.

Wishing everyone the merriest of holidays from

One Step Back - November Guild

Well, I guess you need an explanation as to why I am taking one step back.  :)

When I did the previous post about our Christmas luncheon I was sure that I had taken photos at our November guild meeting.  I searched through all of my files and finally came to the conclusion that I had accidently deleted them so I went ahead and published Dec's. post.

Later that night it suddenly popped into my head that I had taken them with my phone.  (Senior moment, ya think?)

So here they are. Not the best quality, I'm afraid!

Rae Ann, our president has done such an amazing job this year!

Those in attendance were:  Nancy, Sue, Cheryl, and Amanda.

Janey and Lynda,

Marilyn, and Chris;

and me, (Cheryl and Amanda were nice enough to pose
 again with me)

Sue showed the wool mini's that many of them made at our
Oct. retreat.

How gorgeous is this star quilt Sue made as well?

As usual, she has been so busy.  I absolutely love this!

Close up of some of the detail.

Nancy shared this sweet tree table topper.

I love the colors in her present quilt!

Striped binding is always so fun!

So much work in this gorgeous patriotic quilt by Cheryl.  She created her own arrangement with the blocks.

The back is almost as wonderful as the front.

I think Marilyn made more than an apple a day to complete this sweet thing! :)

Many hours spent on this beautiful cross stitch.

Isn't this one by Chris bright and cheery?

Some of the gals have gotten back into cross stitch.  Janey showing this cute November one.

Keep on quilting,
the kennel girls.
