Christmas Luncheon

The Kennel Girls held their Christmas luncheon the first Tues. in December.

Lynda always graciously sets it up with the Alpine Country Club.

Every year when we arrive they welcome us with a sign outside the entrance.

Fifteen members attended.  I think that is the most we have had in a long time.

For the past few years the inside décor has been in an unusual, yet beautiful orange and purple.

Look at Sylvia, I think she dressed for the occasion.  Coincidence or planned, what do you think?

IMG_4616

Susann, Rae Ann, and our President; Diana.

IMG_4587

Some member came bearing gifts.

Jill’s hubby makes the most delicious shortbread cookies.   She also gave some fun sewing notions.

IMG_4586

Diana gave the darling scissor holder with scissors, Joylyn made the cute tomato pin cushion,  Laurie made the fun snap bag filled with a thimble and a doggie ornament, and Lynda gave us some of her delicious homemade fudge.

IMG_4690

There were a variety of doggie ornaments.  I got this cute Dalmatian.

Members were contemplating what to order.

Sue and Susann.

IMG_4590

When guess who snuck in?  That would be  the ‘Queen”, Laurie.  Where is her crown?

(Diana, Judy, Pam, and Lynda)

IMG_4593

Look at her hair, that is natural.  If mine would go that color on it’s own I could kiss ‘L'Oreal ‘  good-bye!

Did I mention that she will be our President next year?

IMG_4595

Pam and Lynda placing their order.  From the looks of it their mouths were watering just thinking about it.

IMG_4591

Kathy and Joylyn happy with their menu choice.

IMG_4597IMG_4596

Show and tell was inspiring.  I think that Jill got the over achiever award for this month.

Look at this cute table topper.  The trees and pinwheels are dimensional.

IMG_4599

She also made this quilt pattern called dominos.  Love the pop of turquoise with the Fall tone colors.  She used extra fat quarters for her back.

IMG_4600IMG_4601

What a fun quilt for her grandson, Easton.  Notice the E in the right hand corner?

IMG_4604

Fun pirate skellies, right Matey?

IMG_4605

Susann made this monkey themed quilt for a donation.  She’s monkeying around and hiding behind the quilt.

IMG_4606

Oh, there she is.

IMG_4608

Looks like these monkeys are up to a little monkey business of their own,

IMG_4607

Rae Ann showed us her apron made from an old shirt.  I guess it’s all the latest rage.  Who’d a thunk?  Sure is cute.  I love the scallops!

IMG_4610

IMG_4612IMG_4611

Diana ended our show and tell with table quilts that she had made for her daughters for Christmas.  Such a fun fabric line.  She used her leftover scraps to make our darling scissor holders.

IMG_4614

All of us had such a fun afternoon.  We hung around for quite some time and enjoyed visiting with each other.

It’s hard to believe that soon another year will be ending.

The ‘Kennel Girls’ have lots of projects to keep us busy.  Before we know it we’ll be planning our quilt show.

My how time flies when you’re having fun.

Have a dog-gone good day!

November 2011 Meeting

Our meeting was held at the home of our new President, Diana.  You can tell  just by looking at her that she’s a wild and crazy fun lady.

Here she is showing us the pattern we will be making for the charity quilt for our annual quilt show in September.

IMG_4077

Attendance was down just a bit, but it was good to see a  few ladies who had not been able to attend  for a while.

Lynda,  Sue, Pam, and Cathy

IMG_4076

Rae Ann was not able to attend, but those who had finished their blocks of the month got their names put in for a drawing.

Guess who the lucky winner was?  Yup, that would be me!  A very cute schnibbles pattern, thanks Rae Ann!

IMG_4078IMG_4079

Show and Tell was a real show stopper.  Sue had been working her little heart out.

IMG_4083

She had made her ‘Winter Wonderland’ quilt in blue work instead of red.  Isn’t it cute?

IMG_4084

IMG_4085

IMG_4086

She made this sweet heart quilt using the free house stitcheries given by Broadbents.

IMG_4090IMG_4088IMG_4089

I love this heartfelt sentiment she stitched in the center.

IMG_4091

I know by now you’re thinking, “Does this woman ever sleep?”

IMG_4092

IMG_4093

Look  how fun the back is.

IMG_4096

No, that’s not all.  I think there were five total.  Does this look familiar?  This is the panel piece that Joylyn gave to each of us that went to the retreat.  I have not even pulled mine out and looked at it since.  Boy does this lady know how to shame a gal!

IMG_4094

IMG_4095

Amanda is a new member of our guild.  Love this quilt with the flying geese.

IMG_4100

IMG_4101

Have to show those backs.  They’re almost as cute as the front.

IMG_4103

She had also made this darling Halloween quilt.  This was a new pattern just put out this year.  She quilted it herself and did a fantastic job!

IMG_4104

I love that center stitchery.  It’s done with a fun new technique using crayons.

IMG_4105

IMG_4108

Cute, cute backing print.

IMG_4107

Diana showed a row of her ‘Grandmothers Garden’ quilt.  Amanda, Cathy, and I are making this quilt also.

IMG_4109

Lynda and Cathy had a different kind of show and tell.  Darling new little grand babies.

IMG_4080IMG_4081

Look at all that hair!

IMG_4097

Business was discussed.  It was decided that we would wait to go to the retreat until  September.

Members  signed up for charity quilt blocks.

Then everyone departed with a yummy lemon bar and a smile on their face.

In December we will have our Christmas luncheon.  A wonderful meal amongst great friends!
