February Guild and Sewing Room Tour Cont.

February's meeting was held at Rita's home.

We gathered at her kitchen table and in the center was a large Lazy Susan.  Perfect for displaying our 5" 'Aunt Gracie' type squares that we are exchanging this year!

This is Rita showing us a project that she had made with her penny squares.

Cute, cute!

In attendance was:  Susann, RaeAnn, Cindy;

Sue, Lynda, and Diana;

Rita, Janey, Jann, and we had a new member join us.

Joylyn arrived a little bit later so Cindy agreed to pose with her again.

While our president, Susann took us through this months schedule Rita treated us to some yummy muffins and her delicious homemade grape juice.

After business we had show and tell.

Sue shared this little mini wall hanging.

this darling scripture bag for one of her granddaughters.

and this cute spring time quilt she made out of fabric she already had.

Now it was time to tour Rita's sewing room.

Well, she doesn't have a room, but she has an amazing 'sewing closet'!

It's right in her kitchen.

She said that it worked perfect for her while home schooling her children.

Love this thread organizer!

Fun butterfly scissors and a sweet pincushion.

Look at all of those darling pins!  I think they are made out of clay.

My love for red has me a bit envious of this sweet sewing basket!!

And who doesn't love jars of buttons?

This heart pincushion is just precious!

There was another room just off of her kitchen that held her cutting table and had lots of shelves.

I know that these have nothing to do with sewing, other than most seamstresses are good cooks. lol!

but I just love old cook books!

Thanks Rita for the fun tour and the yummy refreshments!

Happy Quilting,

January Guild

Our President, Susann started the meeting off with a warm welcome and a smile.

January guild was a time of new beginnings.

First of all we discussed our charity quilt called, trifle.
and
we started a group exchange of 5 inch squares of 'Aunt Gracie' type fabrics.

Cheryl, Sue, Susann, and Diana gathering up their squares.

We have a fun project in mind for these squares.

Using Lori Holts half hexie ruler we will be making a runner or a quilt.

Because I had already made this runner I was asked to demo how to use the ruler.

Easy peasy!  Fold the 5" square in half.  Place the ruler on top (it's nice if you use a glue dot to keep it from slipping) and then just cut.

You end up with two half hexies that you will sew into rows.  The hexies have a seam down the middle.

Did you notice my cute gingham checked apron?  An estate sale find.

We had a nice attendance:  Rita, Diana, Janey, Lynda, Jill, and Sue.

We are happy to have both Denise and Cheryl as returning members!!

A few members had show and tell.  Look at this sweet mini wall hanging made by Janey.

She shared this quilt that she had made some time ago because she wanted some advice.
She said that her daughter loved the colors and now wanted it made bigger.

We all suggested that rather than tear it apart that she find similar colors and make a new one.

Rita shared one of the five card table houses she made for Christmas gifts.

They even have a working doorbell.

After our meeting some of the members stayed for a 'sew day'.

Jill worked on a cute baby quilt.

Jill and Sue had birthdays this week so Lynda presented them with a crown.  So fun!

Janey traced patterns for a redwork quilt.

A lot of us began cutting our half hexies.

At the end we had a real doggy treat!

Another fun day with the Kennel Girls!

Happy Quilting!
