May Guild. . .A Day in the Garden

 

Oh what a gorgeous day to have our quilt guild meeting in

 Nancy's garden.

 

It really made me miss our annual outdoor Dog Kennel Quilt Show that we use to have every August.

 

We ended up having a good attendence:

 

Laurie, Susann, Jill, Sue, Lynda, Janey, Kris, Joylyn, Sydney, Jann, Marilyn, and Rae Ann.

 

Nancy, our president; conducted our meeting.

 

 

We have been doing a  10" block exchange of red and white fabrics.  June will be our last month for this.  In December we will share the quilts we made from the blocks.  Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

 

Show and Tell:

 

Kris is our stripper.  :)  She loves stripping quilts and makes some amazing ones.  Look at this ombre beauty!

 

I have been a busy bee trying to finish some unfinished projects.

 

I started this wool bee skep sampler last year.  I put it away and just got it back out and finished it.  Oh happy day!

I also made a small bee themed table topper.

 

 

This month we were asked by Nancy to bring a quilt that connects you to a family member (s).

 

Jill shared this fun quilt made for her by her clogging family.

 

Laurie shared a discovered quilt made by a Great Aunt.

 

Kris shared this beauty gifted to her for Mother's Day in '2003'.  It was made by her daughter who would have been 23 at the time.

 

 

 

Joylyn's quilt was a wedding gift from her mother in law.  It is hand quilted and as requested by her son, she gave it double batting.

 

My quilt is a rail made from a flannel exchange we had in our guild years ago.  I gifted it to my husband one Christmas.

RaeAnn's mother loved Lilacs.  She made her this gorgeous quilt with that special memory in mind.

 

She also gave her a vase full of Lilacs.  Imagine her

 mother's delight!

 

 

 

The label is so sweet!

 

I love Americana quilts.  Nancy made this in honor of all of her family members that have served our country.

Her dad, bother, grandfathers, every Patton.

 

The label reads:  To those who protect.  I missed getting a close up.

 

 

Nancy and her daughter, Emily watch Wheel of Fortune together every day at 4.  This fun colorful quilt is used for that  mother/daughter bonding time.

April Guild. . .

 

 

Spring has finally arrived, and even though we had a very mild winter; we are all so ready for it!

The smiles on Janey and Nancy's face tells you just how excited we are to get together each month!

 

We are happy to welcome a new member, Judy.

 

 

 Show and tell is always a hi-lite of each meeting.

Kiris shared her amazing rug!

Such fun colors in this quilt by Cheryl.  Love the unique border!

She also made this beautiful patriotic one.

Sue shared this sweet quilt she made for a granddaughter's baptism.  These are the colors she chose.

We are so happy to have Sylvia back with us.  She shared

this beauty.

I love wool and this one by Nancy is so darn cute!

Each month we share a quilt from a theme chosen by our President, Nancy.
This months theme was an antique quilt.

Rae Ann shared this beauty which once belonged to her mother in law.

 

Judy also shared one that was found in her mother in law's belongings.

This amazing crazy quilt was a family 'secret quilt'.  Joylyn's mom gifted it to her for her birthday.

Amanda loves pink and she bought this wonderful time worn pink star quilt at an estate sale for $30.

My antique quilt was scored at an estate sale as well.  I paid $75 for it.  Quilters know that to be a good deal.

Laurie shared three that were made by her grandmother.   

Her great aunt sewed feed sacks for a living.

 

Lynda and Jill are sisters.  These quilts were made for them as a wedding gift by their grandmother.

This sweet Sun bonnet Sue was also made by grandma. 

 

Cheryl's family found 10 quilt tops in a barrell that were made by her Great Grandma Campbell.

 

 This sweet belle with an umbrella was created by Nancy's grandmother as well.

 

Sylvia painted these blocks as a child and her grandmother quilted it in '1955'.  Isn't is sweet?

Her grandmother also made this basket quilt.  I love quilts with baskets!

 

 Loved seeing all of these vintage quilts!

February Guild. . .

 

 

Here I am again playing catch up.

 

It seems like the New Year came and before I knew it was almost spring.  :)

 

Our February guild was a work meeting.  It's what we call a Doggy Treat day.

Sue is ready for spring with this cute quilt.

 

 

She makes the sweetest things with her scraps.  What little girl wouldn't love this darling blankie for their doll?

 

And let's not forget Valentines. 

I found some fun Kewpie blocks at an estate sale and decided to stitch them and turn them into a Valentines runner.

Janey's showing a little love as well.  :)

 

Cheryl is getting a jump on things for fall.  Love these whimsical wool projects!

Our wonderful President, Nancy is sharing a bit of love herself.

 

I love the colors on this fun runner.

 

 

 

This year Nancy is having us bring a special quilt to share each month.  February's theme was a quilt that tells your story.

 

I will be updating this post when I get the info to share about

 each quilt.

 

 

 

I was a convert to the LDS chruch at age 11.  This quilt is the Joseph Smith quilt and was designed by two members of our guild,  Nancy and Joylyn.  Joseph Smith restored the gospel and was the first President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Even as a young girl, I knew in my heart that the story of Joseph Smith seeing God the father and his son, Jesus Christ to be true.

 

Joylyn's is a Union Jack quilt called "Victory Garden" with the British Flag.  It reminds her of her ancestors from the British Isles who made great sacrifices that enrich her life and the lives of her family.  It has a collection of flowered fabics that celebrate her love of gardening, which the "Victory Garden" name also celebrates.
