January Guild. . .Start of a brand new year

The Kennel girls met for their January meeting, and what a fun time we had!

Many were out of town or sick.  We missed them and hope to see them next month at our Doggy Treat class.

Those in attendance were:

Janey, Lynda, and Marilyn

Susann and Chris

Jolynn, Sydney, and her cute daughter.

Nancy and Jann

This is Nancy, our new president.  She's showing one of her cute wool creations.

She is on the ball and has some fun things planned for '2018'.

One of them is for us to bring some of our quilts to share each month.  January's assignment was to bring 'Our Favorite Quilt'.

It was fun to see and hear why it was their favorite.

This is Joylynn's favorite quilt because it contains a piece from each of her sweet Dog Kennel Quilt girls.  It was made from one where we all brought 10" squares to exchange.  We were to make a quilt that contained a star design.

Sydney's favorite because it took her out of her comfort zone, using fabrics she didn't like.  It also reminds her of the wonderful women in California at a quilt shop she worked for the year she lived there.

Nancy loves this quilt just for the colors.  Also, it involves traditional piecing and one of her favorite blocks, Burgoyne Surrounded.

This double Irish Chain is my favorite for a few reasons.  1.  I love Aunt Gracie fabrics, 2.  It was a fun quilt to make and 3.  I learned how to miter a corner on a quilt.

Susann's favorite.

Chris's favorite.

This is Cheryl's favorite Buggy Barn quilt.  It is bright and fun and lights up her house every Halloween.

Janey loves this quilt because it was on her bed when she was growing up.  She loves the colors and the fact that her Grandma Crockett made it.  The only grandma she knew.

Lynda's favorite.

Marilyn's favorite.

After sharing our favorite quilts we had show and tell.

Marilyn fell in love with Cheryl's Indian Code Walker quilt when she shared it last year and had to make one for herself.

She also created this darling snowman quilt.

The snowmen were suppose to be appliqued, but she chose to embroider it.  She also added extra borders to this quilt.

Chris shared her amazing new ruler,

As well as these two cute quilts.  She told us a few times how much she loves to strip!  (lol!)

Nancy shared this darling spool one.  Love that red plaid fabric!

and this sweet Americana one.

She designed this fun wool needle holder too.

As you can tell, the Kennel Girls are keeping very busy!

Keep on quilting,
the Kennel Girls

Kennel Girls Christmas luncheon

The first week of December the Kennel Girls met for their annual Christmas luncheon at the Alpine Country Club.

Lynda always sets this up for us and we appreciate it so much!

Our numbers were smaller than usual, but the food was tasty and the yummy cookie at the end was fabulous!

When we arrived the flag with our silly dog was on display.  Isn't it so fun?

As well as the group quilt that many of the members contributed to, by each making a block years ago.

These use to be displayed at our annual quilt show that was held in a garden every year.  We no longer do the show, but what fond memories we have!

The Country Club always decorate the tables to help achieve the spirit of Christmas.

Those attending were Rita, Cheryl, Chris, Sue, Nancy,

Lynda, RaeAnn, Susann, Marilyn,

Amanda, Jann,

and Laurie.

Here she is showing her homemade hot cocoa mix she gifted each of us.

Others brought gifts as well.

A mug rug from Sue,

A sweet mini tote with homemade caramels from Lynda,

A unique woven basket with clips that came in a drawstring bag from Chris.

A cute doggy towel and crocheted doily to go by the spool on our machines from Rae Ann and Susann.

Lint rollers from Nancy.  What quilter doesn't need a lint roller?  :)

Jill wasn't able to make it, but sent this darling bag of lavender.

Business was discussed and new officers were elected.

Sue shared her fabulous quilt!

I think she likes it!  (wink)

Afterwards we enjoyed our luncheon and had a good chat.

Now we are looking forward to a new year with Nancy as our president.  We know she will do a great job!

Keep on quilting!
