Lone Star Heaven
(sorry that the pic is so dark)
Busy busy busy!
"We'll get this done if it's the last thing we do." Quilting is serious business.
Kathy picked Americana prints for her star-love it!
Can't wait to see it finished!
This quilt shown here by La Ree and Lynda is carrying on a family tradition. La Ree and Janeys mother use to tie a quilt for all of the grandchildren when they got married. After she passed away Janey did not want that tradition to die. She pieced this quilt for a niece soon to be married. Lynda (Janey and La Ree's sister-in-law) quilted it and La Ree bound it. It is so darling and I'm sure she is going to love it. Three cheers for TRADITION!
Just wanted to let you see the back of the quilt.
It is such a sweet little quilt
Close up of the flower. Cute fabrics
We all loved the polka dot back!
Joylyn showed her quilt like this she had made for Broadbents a year or so ago. I loved the red and white so I bought a kit. It's been aging to perfection on my shelf until it was ready for me to sew. It was such a fun and easy quilt
Cindy started this quilt on a cruise. It is simpy adorable, all applique. She said that it will be for her next grandson. Not one on the way as of now. Lucky little future boy!
Many long hours of applique.
I had to take some close ups so you could see the detail.
The kite is so unique
Each block is so darling that it's impossible to pick a favorite.
The camera washed it out a little, but you could not believe the detail on this butterfly.
Sue showed us this cute walll hanging she made using the machine applique method that Carmen taught in one of our "Doggy Treat" classes.
Sue has been so busy. Very nice!
Sue made this quilt similar to the one Lynda showed last month. Lynda sewed hers in rows and used the fabric kits for borders. Sue made each kit that was meant to be a pillow and sewed it into a quilt. Both quilts are so fun, but look entirely different.
I didn't sign up for the Lone Star class so I arrived for our regular meeting just a little before noon. It was easy to see that the ladies were very pleased with what they were learning. I wandered a little and snapped pics. I had to chuckle as it seemed that the fabric each quilter had picked for their star fit them to a tee! Isn't it amazing how we all do kindof look like our quilts? Well, maybe not the quilts themselves, but the colors and patterns we use. Each of them had a good start on their Lone Stars and by the smiles on their face I could see that it really is true -"everything is big in Texas". The Texas Lone Star class was a BIG success! Thanks Carmen for a job well done. A big Texas YAHOO for you!! Remember that in April we will be doing our second schnibbles class taught by Rae Ann. It it Plan C and she has used two Boutique charm packs. If you sign up for the class you need to purchase the Plan C pattern. You can make it out of what ever fabric you would like. To see a picture of it go to last months post-"Love is in the air".
Until we meet again, Happy Quilting!

LOVE was in the air!
Here she is posing with her festive tree skirt.

Diana, Janey, and Sue showed their finished Winter White quilts from our January Schnibbles class taught by Rae Ann. I loved all of them and it's fun to see how the variety of fabrics make them look so different. Did you notice that Janey reversed her lights and darks?

Not only did she make the cute French General quilt, but look at these socks Janey knitted herself. Love, Love, them!

Jill Carroll made this darling toile black and white number. It would be right up Audrey Hepburns alley.

Every quilt was a hit but I must admit that this one of Lyndas stole the show. Last year Broadbent Quilt Shop offered one of these embroidery house patterns as a monthly

I had to snap a pic of these three cuties all dressed in pink and red. Do you think that maybe they love Valentines Day? (Joylyn, Sue, and Rae Ann)

Diana made this cute Valentine topper out of a panel that looks like hankies. Love the pinwheels! Now all it needs is a box of chocolates and she's ready for the big day!

Jackie showed this fun book cover that her daughter is doing for her Young Womens class.

I am a red and white lover so this quilt of Rae Ann's made my heart skip a beat. She made it as a seasonal bedspread. Won't it be so cute for Christmas, Valentines, and Fourth of July.

Rae Ann has a great start on this quilt for our next Schnibbles class that will be taught in April. Could it be because she thought she had to teach it in March? I'll never tell. Her sample is made from a line called 'Boutique". I love the colors. It makes me think of a colorful flower garden. No wonder I love it.

Lynda showed us her quick, easy, warm and snuggly lap quilts that she had made for her mom, dad, and Father-in -law. She did all the stippling herself. Quite an accomplishment.
Janey showed this quilt she designed out of a line called French General. I love the colors and all the different florals, stripes, and dots. She started with a Layer Cake and cut 2 1/2 inches off the side and then another 2 1/2 inches off the bottom to create this creative look. Later that day I rode with Diana to Payson to pick up a quilt and we stopped at a gift shop in Springville called 'Porch on the Main'. Remember, this is a gift shop not a quilt shop. Guess what they had. A pack of 7" squares of French General. I wonder who had to buy it? Darn, I broke one of my goals for 2010. Just have to say, "the devil, or I mean Janey, made me do it."

Rae Ann's little cowboy quilt with it's colorful border was another big hit!
Just wanted a close-up so you could see how cute the fabrics were.

Every quilt was a hit but I must admit that this one of Lyndas stole the show. Last year Broadbent Quilt Shop offered one of these embroidery house patterns as a monthly
complimentary gift. This quilt was made up using the fabric kits that you were able to purchase to go with each pattern. I've posted just a few close-ups so you can see the cute details. Broadbents will be featuring this in May.

This apron definately gets me in the mood for Spring. Can't wait until we have some real roses.

What a darling Bugggy Barn Heart quilt! Jackie said that it wasn't her favorite because it was too busy. We all loved it and offered to take it off her hands. Unfortunately, none of us walked away with it. Guess she decided it wasn't too busy after all.
Look at her cute scrappy pieced border binding and back.
My husband told me that whenever he listens to us women talk about quilts that he hears the word cute more times than he can count. At Tuesdays guild the word of choice just happened to be LOVE. After each quilt was unveiled I just kept hearing "Oh, I love it"! Yes, I must admit that I contributed a few of those 'I love it'. It seems as though cupid himself had stopped in and shot a few of his LOVE arrows in the air. So ladies I hope you love all of your quilts and that you are able to spend Valentines day with someone you love. Remember that a way to a man's heart is through his stomach. If you cook him up something sweet I'm sure he'll be much more generous the next time you ask, "honey can I buy that fabric"?
