Sew Sew Fun!

Rae Ann taught us a Schnibbles quilt at January guild. Even though I had signed up for the class, I must admit I was not in the mood to sew and had to push myself to go. Can you believe that? Not in the mood to sew? It happens now and then. What a wonderful class it was! She gave us many tips that I am so glad that I didn't miss out on. Also, once I got sewing it was great fun. Rae Ann did a fantastic job teaching and I suggest that if possible you attend her next lesson. It will be well worth your time! Happy quilting and we'll see you at next months guild.

Many ladies purchased ugly quilt kits. If you ask me, none of them seem too UGLY. I am looking forward to seeing them made into quilts!

I had three quilts this month, but I accidently deleted one. Oh well, the other was just a wrap up in quilt. This stocking one was very fun and easy. We saw the snowman one at the Shop Hop. At first I tried to resist. You can see how well that went.

Sylvia has been busy making quilts for her upcoming grand babies. She went to Nolas to do the quilting. As you can see, she became quite good at doing this star quilt design. Great job Sylvia!

Any baby will be lucky to get one of these precious quilts!

Cindy had been busy trying to finish up projects that she had. Her seasonal quilts were all just darling!

Jill made two of these quilts, one for her mother and one for her inlaws. It's amazing how just changing the border makes the quilts look so different.

La Ree put her snowman blocks together that were from a group exchange we did 10 or so years ago. See ladies, it's never too late to finish an old project. Look how cute it is!

Jill does everything in two's. Not really, but she did also make two of these quilts for her grandsons Christmas. They are going to look darling on their beds!

If there's one thing (or should I say three things) we Kennel Girls know how to do it's definately -Eat, Drink, and Be Merry! Boy, what a fun time we had at our Christmas luncheon. When I first entered the room I was rendered almost speechless at the fancy attire our Queen had arrived in. She was decked out from head to toe with matching clutch. I must admit, I felt a little under dressed. Only for a minute though, because then my thoughts turned to the beautiful table decor. Again the queen out did herself. She had placed the cutest little dog ornaments at each of our table settings. The food was wonderful as usual and our cute chef, (we didn't actually get to see him, but I'm sure he was cute) graced us with free warm and deliciously gooey cookies. We got to actually see Rae Anns darling schnibbles quilt. Everyone is excited to get to do this fun project. Now we are all on a hunt for glace' charm packs. Lynda and Diana showed us projects that they had been busy working on this month. Many of us have some at the quilters and hope to show them in Jan. Jill Walker proudly announced that since we had last met she has finished four quilts. Boy did we catch her fish, line, and sinker. Ten of us participated in the homespun exchange and we now have a fun start to a Fall 2010 Homespun quilt. Rae Ann and I had a wonderful time snapping pictures of everyone and all the delicious food. La Ree said that she doesn't even take this many pictures of her grandchildren. Since when did Kennel Girls take a back seat to granchildren? Ha-Ha! I know, it doesn't take much to entertain us. Like I said, Eat, Drink and BE MERRY!

What a Showing!!

Oh how you Kennel Girls have been busy little bees. Almost everyone at our Nov. guild had something new for show and tell. It was DOG-GONE fantastic! I realize that you may get sick of my stupid doggy puns. But, get use to it, after all-we are the Kennel Girls. We had an excellant turn out and it was great to have Rae Ann and her new friend Jackie (who is really fun) rejoin our group. Alot of exciting projects are going to come about this year! Our first exchange is going to be 8"squares of Homespun plaid or checks in Fall colors. We will be doing this for 5 months. Each month you will bring 1 square for however many women sign up. It will start at our Christmas luncheon on Dec. 1st. If you're interested be sure and let Lynda know. Remember when cutting plaids and checks you need to open your fabric up so that they are cut straight on a line. We are going to be doing Schnibbles in Jan., April, and July. Not sure what these are? Come to the luncheon and find out. Also, Joylyn will be heading up our doggie treat classes. These will be held in March, May, Sept. and Nov. I'm confindent that she will have some fun things for us to do or learn.


Recipe of the month (Straight from the Kennel)

Grape Salad (provided by Lynda Larson and Jill Carroll)

Red and green grapes washed, stemed and dry

Dressing:
8 oz. cream cheese
8 oz. sour cream
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix dressing ingredients and stir in grapes. (the dressing covers at least a large bag of each color grape. Keep chilled.
Enjoy!
