Charity Never Faileth . . .

Each year at our Quilt show we raffle off the chance to win a wonderful quilt.

The funds that we receive from this are donated to charity.

This is our way of saying ‘thank you’ for all of our many blessings.  We feel so fortunate that we are able to sew quilts and  appreciate the opportunity to help out someone in need.

Some years we have given the money to Primary Children’s Hospital.

If we know of a need of someone close to us the money will be given to them.

Last year one of our guild members four year old grandson was battling leukemia.  We decided that we would give the money to his family.

This year we had another member whose daughter had a new born baby that was born with complications and had to have immediate surgery.

Our charity quilt was made from ‘Aunt Gracie’ fabrics.

Twelve members each signed up for a block of the month and made two blocks.

Laurie Price  put the blocks together.  If you have ever  made a quilt using blocks that different people have sewn you know that this is no easy task.  Everyone sews differently.  Getting everything to line up perfectly is a challenge.  Laurie did a great job.  The quilt was absolutely darling.

I bought my tickets and kept my fingers crossed.

People are always so excited for the chance to win the charity quilt.  The tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.

Wow, wouldn’t you love to buy a quilt for that price?

Well, our lucky winner this year just happened to be a guild member, Linda Sheffield.

Another hi-lite of our show is the $3 luncheon.   Let me tell you, these girls are dog-gone good  cooks!  All members bring salads and goodies as well as a few finger foods.  Everything is always delicious!  We have had SO many people request that we make a cookbook.

What do you think girls?  Are you up for it?

Amanda, Cathy, Judy, and Susann.  Hey, I feel a calendar coming on!   lol!  Remember that movie?  You have to admit, those are some pretty good looking buns!

Hope I’m not barking up the wrong tree!  We all need a good laugh now and then.

Bye for now!

Dog Kennel Quilt Show ‘2011’

Let the show begin!

Yes, it’s that time of year again.  The girls put on a show that was something to ‘HOWL’ about!

IMG_3125

This is one crazy dog for a bunch of crazy quilters!

IMG_3124

One year the girls each made a ‘doggie’ block for our ‘Man’s Best Friend’ quilt.

IMG_3126

I don’t know about you, but this sight would surely make me want to check this show out!

IMG_3123

As we enter through the gate, what a sight to see!

All along the fence were quilts,

To see what the ‘girls’ had been up to.

As you can tell, Diana (above) and Suzann had on their ‘doggy’ aprons and are willing to help out any way they can.

Hope you had a ‘Dog-Gone’ good time!

We would like to thank Lynda, one of our guild members; for opening up her garden for our show for the 2nd year.  It was wonderful!

The quilts were definitely the stars of the show, but there is still more to come.

You won’t want to miss seeing our charity quilt, our trunk show, our vendors, and a peek at our wonderful luncheon.

Till then,

We Kennel girls hope you’re sleeping as snug as a bug in a “QUILT”!

The Greatest Show on Earth. . .

At least us Kennel girls think so!

Our annual quilt show is the hi-lite of the year.

020

Not only do we get to see the beautiful quilts that ‘the girls’ have created this year, but we get to enjoy them in a lovely garden.

The luncheon (always delicious), the trunk show, and the chance to win the charity quilt are three reasons why you won’t want to miss.

Mother Nature has agreed to cooperate for such a wonderful occasion.

Hope to see you there! And don’t forget your cameras.
